Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in Ahmedabad, Gujarat

The series of the images below show a rare operation recently carried out. This is th ecase of a patient who developed large clots in the leg, thigh and pelvis and the clots then migrated to the heart, lungs and brain, giving rise to brain stroke.

The diagnosis was made by the latest imaging techniques of Doppler study, echocardiography, CT scan and CT angiogram.

At the time of the operation, large clots were found occupying 3 of the 4 heart chambers, main trunk of the artery to the lungs and left and right pulmonary arteries. Clots were removed. Clots were also recovered from the deeper branches of the arteries of right and left lungs.
